Hi, I don't know if you have been asked this before, but how do you feel about the theory that eren is the father of hisu's baby?

Hey anon, I don’t know how long it’s been since you asked this, but since it’s probably been a long time, my apologies for keeping you waiting. I’m permanently away from tumblr (and pillowfort) for reasons of principle, among other things. I’m on fandom.ink and dreamwidth though, and you’re more than welcome to chat with me there. I have an asks entry set up on dreamwidth (which hopefully works as intended), which would be a good place to send questions anonymously.

I don’t intend to keep you waiting any longer though, so: the Historia babydaddy question. My preferences for who the father should be go like this:

Levi > Eren > 104th > anyone else

I would love Levi to be the father, because Royal Ackerbaby would be objectively cool (and would raise a lot of interesting questions regarding the specific heredity of bloodline powers), and it would piss off the people involved in the LeviGate madness back when the Uprising arc first came out. (That second bit is petty of me, I admit.) This is a crack scenario; I doubt it will actually pan out that way in the story.

Still would be cool though.

Eren is my other favorite pick, by a very long way, but to explain why that is I need to skip past Eren to the other part: 104th vs anyone else.

Back when the pregnancy reveal came out, I wrote out a lot of my thoughts on Historia’s place in that storyline, but I skirted around the fatherhood question. In most of the discussions I saw at the time, people said that they hoped the father was farmer-kun or some other random person, not a named character. I suspect that’s essentially because they want to avoid the drama of that kind of reveal, which is fair. But I can’t think of anything worse than having to have sex with some stranger, someone I don’t know well and don’t trust, simply for the sake of getting pregnant

(Note: “they have sex to continue the line” is such a strong squick for me that I refuse to read even fun and cheerful fics from authors I love, if they have that premise. “They have sex to have a child who’ll be doomed to a short and brutal life in order to stop an oncoming genocide”? Nope nope nope nope nope. Can’t.)

So: the father needs to be someone Historia knows and trusts, someone she has a connection with, or else the whole situation is even more horrible than it already was. That pretty much narrows it down to the 104th + Levi. Who in the 104th is she closest to, out of those who have the ability to father children?

Eren. This is obvious, of course, since Eren is the main character and obviously we see more interaction between them than between Historia and other characters. She doesn’t have a strong connection to Armin, or Connie. She does to Eren.

Eren is the one who understands the choice she made to take on the crown, and why she made it, and what she gave up to do it. He was there with her on the precipice of decision. The story has emphasized over and over and over (literally, at least three times) how much he cares about her safety and happiness, even to the point where for years, he was willing to put The Cause completely to the side and keep quiet about the royal titan thing, purely out of concern for the consequences to her.

So yeah. Not only would I prefer a storyline where Eren turned out to be the father, purely in terms of Historia being able to keep some measure of dignity, despite all the messiness that would come with that, I also think that’s the most likely outcome for the story. And I would welcome it.

GOOD NEWS WHO KNEW

teland:

No, it actually is good news! Updates to the posts I made earlier this month asking y'all to donate to two good friends of ours who were facing eviction:

First up again is Greyandgold. Between direct paypal donations and Greyandgold doing honest-to-goodness bake sales (she is an incredible baker), she raised enough to cover her rent, and her landlord agreed not to evict her even though she was late with it. THANK FUCK.

That brings us to Stef. Between her gofundme and other fundraising activity, Stef and Janis have raised $2000 so they can stay in their apartment… but they need another $500 by the end of the month (and it takes about a week for gofundme to release funds), so if you can help out now (or again), please do. LINK.

Again, even boosting this is a help, and I know a *lot* of you have been doing that, and I can’t thank you enough for that. Please, again. *Please*.

Thanks again to everyone who has helped me help my friends. Watch this space for further updates.

Hello! i tried backing up my tumblr but all it did was save pictures so now im going to try your method! when you say that instead of pictures, it will back up the links, are these the links to the pictures URL or the links to the post they're from?

Hi Anon! Instead of downloading the picture and linking to the file locally, the option you’re talking about (assuming I understand you right) will link to the copy of the file that’s still stored on Tumblr’s servers. So it’s a good option if you want to save space, but not a good option if you plan to delete your blog, or if you worry Tumblr may delete or censor it.

(No matter what option your use, a link to the Tumblr post itself will be included with the backed up version.)

Much Quickly Simple 8-Step Tumblr Backup Process for Windows (Very Good)

So there’s more than one install process post out there for the excellent tumblr-utils backup tool, the best backup tool I’ve found. But after working with many people over the past week or so to back up many blogs, I’ve got a process hammered out. This is as streamlined as I can get it, and even works for the trickier task downloading the videos on your blog.

Instructions under the cut so that I can update as updates are needed, so keep an eye on this space. Here we fuckin’ go!

So…You Have A Backup of Your NSFW Tumblr….Where To Take It?

meeedeee:

Assumptions

1. It is 10 GB

2. Stored as an index file and folders (which will look like this: https://zinedom.org/zinedom-tumblr/index.html)

3. Just want to archive it online for now…will figure out what to do moving forward

4. Lots of NSFW fan art

The blogs, if downloaded using the Python Tumblr Backup are easy to upload to a website (I have 2 domain names). But what kind of webhost will allow that?

1. Data storage

2. Bandwidth (password protect to limit.)

3. NSFW ( Password may also assist with adult content)

Cpanel is a must. I cannot manage a website without one (ex Dreamhost - their system was too confusing)

This actually isn’t a terribly big ask. Plenty of webhosts allow NSFW content. HostGator is one good possibility. Their cheapest hosting plan is $8/mo, and provides 100GB storage and way more CPU/memory than you’re likely to need for an HTML site. (Webhosts love HTML sites! They’re efficient and unlikely to get hacked!) Their plan is not terribly far out of the norm, so you can shop around.

The thing that’s most likely to cause you problems, actually, is the sheer number of files involved. Most hosting providers have what’s called an “inode” limit, which is a limit on the number of files + folders you can have on your account. They’re unlikely to tell you about this up front, but google “[webhost] inode limit” and you’ll usually find hard numbers buried in their helpdesk somewhere. Your specific example may be fine though: one 13G backup I’ve got has 60,000 files. HostGator’s hosting allows up to 100,000.

You’ll also want to check their content policy carefully for fine print. While most hosts don’t proactively check for violating content, if there’s a report they’ll act on it. HostGator’s content terms are here and here. In sum: they allow anything that’s legal in the US and the state of Texas specifically. (Which means that, tbh, you’re more likely to have copyright issues than adult content ones, but unless they get a takedown notice these are rarely acted on.) Again, you’ll wanna read it yourself, and reach out to them directly if you have questions. Good luck!

P.S. Just note that this will be a bitch to upload and manage. Do not try to use the cPanel file manager to view the “media” folder in the backup, it will freeze trying to list all the files. Also keep in mind, FTP will not show you all the files, as it only shows up to a few thousand within a single directory. But as long as this is a static archive, one upload and done, you should be fine.
